Global New Tab Shortcut Chrome Extension Image 1

Description

This allows you to open a new tab from within any application with a keyboard shortcut.

This means that as soon as you think of a search to do or web page to open, you are just one keypress away from doing it.

!!! You MUST select a keyboard shortcut after installing !!!

To use, install the extension and then click on "Keyboard Shortcuts" at the bottom of the extensions page. There, select a shortcut key for "Global New Tab Shortcut" and be sure to change the dropdown to "Global" afterwards.

This extension doesn't add handlers to pages or anything fishy. It uses the built-in Chrome keyboard shortcut handling to create a new tab with the built-in Chrome APIs.
