Loved it at first. My only grip is that it would be make duplicate tab groups with the same name. So lets say i was browsing google in 3 different tabs, it would create a tab group. then lets say that i had a another browsing session and did not use that original tab group, then it would make a new tab group called "Google" as well, so i ended up with like 5 different tab groups fro reddit, google, instagram etc. took me a while to delete all the duplicate groups. I wish it would find tab groups with existing names and just add to that instead of creating a new tab group

Great for organising. Id suggest making the default minimum 2. Also make a setting that certain domain can be ignored. Such as opening new tabs. i often have a random new tab somewhere and open a new one and it makes them into a group which can be annoying.

Great tool but you need to right click on bookmarks and disable "Show tab groups" to avoid your bookmarks to be cluttered

I had hope for this extension, but it took over. It makes a group just because I open a tab. I tried deleting it but I cannot get rid of the shortcut on my bookmark bar. Clicking on it makes another group. Very disappointing. Doing another search, it looks like it might be a part of Google too! What???

This has been a godsend. For some reason, the chrome flag tab-groups-auto-create disappeared or at least I couldn't find it anymore, but this extension worked like a charm and works on it's own...no key shortcuts and manual entries. 1000/10 recommend, thank you!

It seems to do what it's supposed to, but I had to stop using it. I can't cope with my gmail tabs suddenly getting mixed in with my google search tabs.

Outstanding. This is so simple yet so effective at helping organize and declutter numerous tabs. For some reason, it does not work on slickdeals.net ? I assumed it would group by top level domain. Still love it.

When a new tab opens in a new domain group, it automatically gets focus and navigates to the site, which distracts my workflow. I wish that a new tab in a newly created group wouldn't get focus by default, with an option to enable it if the user wants.

I wish the Google Store had better search features. The extension doesn’t have everything I wanted, but it works well. But its Free and does what it says. Thank you for a greate extention. User feedback : It would be great to have an indicator for hidden groups, like a small blank group with an arrow next to the "+" button or a color change on the tab. Bug: I did encounter a bug where if a group in the top right is hidden, you have to click to minimize another group to make space. Even when there’s enough room, you still need to click on one of the top right groups to make it appear.

Horrific experience. Ignores existing groups and puts everything into new groups, even if it has just one tab (despite me setting it to minimum of 4 tabs). No way to undo, has just made a huge mess of my browser

Using it on brave. Nice in theory and looks nice, except it totally ignores my tab options. one tab for a domain is enough to group it up, rather than the three I have it set to.

I don't know if this is possible as the actual tab grouping seems to be a browser feature. - Do not break "open in background", currently when I middle click a link outside of the current group, it still opens in the foreground.

This was a really great addon for a while but it is buggy. It will add things to a tab called "NEWTAB" or put things such as developers.google.com in the ATLASSIAN because i opened the link from a tab there. It is also frustrating how new tabs get openened when i collapse the rightmost group. It also opens yet another new tab whenever i open the group with previously openeed new tabs. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but does not work. Sad because i really enjoyed using this.

I prove it in Chrome and is very good. I use Vivaldi and a friend told me that the extension worked fine in Vivaldi before the latest version 6.7. Could you please check the issue and correct it.

When I first started using it I thought I finally found what I was looking for so long. However now after a year I can say that it is also very frustrating. I tend to have many groups open simultaneously and the groups that overflow the right edge of the tab pane are not displayed. As the right most group is the active group I never see my currently open tab. If group names would at collapse to make some space, that would give some relieve, instead the domain name is always written out in full and that takes lots of width.

Great extension, I was about to create one for internal use but found this one instead, as previous commenter Nick Moreton said we should be able to include subdomains as I mainly would like to use it to group between different env (DEV, TEST, PROD), it would also be a good thing to map a domain to a group name my-env-subdomain.domain.com => DEV. Have tried a few of these extensions, and this one is easily the best :) One small feature request - I'd love to have a setting to ignore/include the sub-domain - a lot of our work systems are set up as subdomains as our main domain, so they all appear under one tab rather than as their own "apps" based on the sub domain. Hope that makes sense!

Was great, but two things just started happening that are annoying. The first is mentioned in other reviews - the active group now shuffles to the right end of the tab groups by default if you don't change that setting. The second is that clicking on a link to spawn a new tab switches to the first tab in that domain's group, instead of the newly opened tab.

I love the idea, there are two things that absolutely drive me nuts. I thought I would get used to it, but these are just unbearable for me. 1.) I can't stand the shuffling of tabs. I want the tabs to stay put and not shuffle to the end when they open a new tab. This is very distracting and difficult to navigate. 2.) Opening a new tab when clicking the group heading is unnecessary and also too abrupt. If I want a new tab, I will use the standard browser UI button to do it. I find when trying to open a group, a new tab (or multiple tabs) often are opened to where I have to close one or multiple new tabs.

I'd like to echo Jonas's frustrations with this plugin taking over the keyboard shortcuts for navigating to the front/end of lines while highlighting. These are system-level keyboard shortcuts used on every OS. The latest update broke my workaround as it'd previously only captured CMD+Shift+Left, but now captures both CMD+Shift+Left and CMD+Shift+Right meaning I can't use my previous workaround (CMD+Left and then CMD+Shift+Right). I've uninstalled this plugin as a result. If you use keyboard shortcuts, I'd avoid this plugin until this has been addressed.

I find it useful for my workflow. Much better than Google's own tab groups. Thank you.

I think the criticisms are valid. While it's great in concept, it's not that useful in practice due to its limitations. I think it should be a bit configurable, to allow options like "don't touch pinned tabs", "don't create single-tab tab-groups", "show/hide and "don't touch existing groups". The last one might not make much sense, requires some deeper thinking. Edit: Bro dropped the fattest update with all my desired features one day after I asked them

Suggestion: no overriding manual groups.

i was looking for a way to categorize only one specific domain's page. initially i thought, awesome extension, just what i was looking for! but with few hiccups too... # I had about 150 tabs opened and a lot of them were already categorized. upon triggering the hotkey, it broke ALL of the existing groups to create new one. # it created groups with three/ two even one pages only, also not a desired behavior and there should've been a way to control this. as a result i have over thirty groups now! nevertheless, I'm not using this extension for a while. will be eagerly waiting for improvement. it's a great extension.

This works very well. A few recomendations to make it more helpful. 1. If I rename a group or change its color, next time it should keep the name and color I've set before, otherwise I keep changing the group name and color. 2. We should have exclusion URL, that wouldn't be added to groups by default, including the New Tab

I searched through several tab grouping extensions before i found this one. This is by far the best ive found!

This extension does what it says on the tin, but there are no configuration options and it's a little buggy. Here are the issues I encountered: - It interferes with my pinned tabs, causing them to become unpinned and sent to a group. - It creates groups from domains with only a single tab. - It forces ALL CAPS tab group names. - It picks tab group color seemingly at random. Ideally, it would take an educated guess based on the domain's favicon, but it should at least allow the user to specify manually. I don't want YouTube to be green. - I can't find a way to exclude or customize the matching/naming patterns of specific domains. Nevertheless, it's a great idea for an extension and I hope to see it improved in the future.

I'd prefer the extention wouldn't create one tab groups. And my true dream is creating groups when a new tab is created from a link on a current tab.

It's actually a good extension. I would love it if we could add some settings for subdomains. For example I have 2 servers but 3 domains. test.ddev.site => I get a custom group named "DDEV" myepicwebsite.com => I get a custom group named "Myepicwebsite" testing.myepicwebsite.com => I get a custom group named "Myepicwebsite". My wish would be like "Myepicwebsite - Testing" or something like that. It would be great for web developing if you have 2 domains for stage/ production. I hope you understand what i mean. Also it would be great if I could change the shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + Left) by myself.

Great plugin. A couple of additional features would make this plugin even better: 1. Give an option to disable the giant tabs/labels for groups as it hogs up a huge portion of the tab bar. 2. Include an on/off toggle for the pinned extension. This would be much easier than having to disable the extension every time I want to stop the group tab session and open a new browser window for example (the group functionality remains in the existing window however even after the extension is disabled which works great for my use case). 3. Integration with Supatabs would be fantastic. Currently the Supatabs extension (highly recommended) doesn't work at all when this Group Tabs By Domain extension is enabled.

Great beginning, but I miss there lot of features. For example group vouchers only if there are 3 or more tabs opened, custom names for specific domains or auto-opening new window after X tabs are opened.

would be 5 stars if it grouped docs.google separate from google.com tabs :D it pairs great with "Auto Collapse for Tab Groups"
