This extension is such a time saver and is easy to use! If you are a teacher with students that need a read aloud it is definitely worth the download to check it out!
Paid service . Free for the first 30 days . I'm not saying they shouldn't ask for payments , I respect the business . I just wish that they were straightforward about the payment aspect before I actually downloaded . Again , I have nothing against the developers and I wish them all the best . This is a purely subjective opinionated review . DON'T take this review as an objective factual description .

In my school, or report card includes teacher comments for each subject we teach. If we have over 20 students and teach 4 subjects, those comments can easily start to add up... Mote saved HOURS of my time since I cannot type as fast as I can speak. It was a game changer for me and I don't think I can go back to my 50 wpm type speed to write hundreds of comments... I would highly recommend this if you are required to write SO MUCH. Wouldn't hurt to try it out for a week.
I spend a LOT of my time typing comments on documents: I supervise postgraduate students. I've explored a number of speech-to-text systems. Most of them fail when you use technical language in my field and generally become unusable for anything except generic colloquial language. Mote is the best I have found so far that does a good job of transcribing that manages the technical jargon of my field. It has really improved my productivity on providing detailed notes on documents. Another nice thing about Mote from a pedagogic perspective is that it presents my comments in two modes: an audio voice note and also a transcribed text. I find students respond very well to having both of these available. The voice note often conveys my supportive, friendly tone, suggestions, etc. The text version is available for them to reread and consider detail that I sometimes add by hand. Another great thing about Mote is that you can translate the text with a button click. I have a number of students whose first language is not English and it is useful for them to sometimes flip between the English and another language. There are a few things that I hope are integrated into the next version. Wish 1: Mote does a great job of transcribing what I say. But unfortunately, my exact words are often stream of conciousness, slightly disorganized, full of repetitions, ums and ahs (like any normal person's, especially when I am thinking on the fly). What I then have to do is to run a separate script to clean it up and rewrite the text transcription in proper English. It would be great if Mote had an option to "clean up" and "reorganize" the text version of the voice notes to present them in grammatical English while retaining the tone and jargon of the original. i.e. I want my original voice and then a cleaned up version of a transcript (I am not asking for the original voice note to be reengineered). Wish 2: When I put Motes in google docs (not in the comments) then it creates a URL to the voice Mote and inserts it into the google doc. Then I have to click on the link, get the text from Mote and cut-and-paste it into the Google doc. This is a hassle and so tend not to do this -- although I would (because Google Voice typing is just absolutely terrible). I think it would be great if Mote could put the text directly into the google document itself. Wish 3: Mote is still not great at names and acronyms (e.g. citations of journal articles or names of students -- some of whom have non-Anglo names and Mote isn't great at that). It also isn't good at producing names and homophones that have alternative spellings (e.g. Kelly, Keli, Cally, etc.) -- this is entirely understandable. I think it would be really good if I could define a list of common collocations, names, terms, acronyms that I use often in my work, then upload that onto my Mote page so that Mote can customize it's responses using those. Wish 4: I personally love using Google Docs and its my preferred medium of expression. But sometimes I do need to respond on a propietary document format such as MSword. In these cases, Mote exports from Google Doc as a link to audio in a comment and the original text is not displayed. I have to run a custom script to export the mote comments and reinsert them as text. It would be nice if there was an option to export the audio link as well as the transcribed text. Great tool, thank you!

I do not like the pop up in every single page i open. I would prefer it without the pop up function. I'd rather open it when needed.

I have been thoroughly blown away by my students' positive reaction from being able to click on a link and hear my voice giving them feedback on an assignment that I posted for my students to complete on last week for the first time!!!! They thouroughly enjoyed listening to their personal feedback I provided to each them individually based upon their academic performance. I love it!!!! I am sold!!!! Truly a GREAT investment for ANY educator!!!!!
Fantastic tool to boost effectiveness in distancelearning environments. It slowed down my browser a bit, but I left many more comments, much faster than writing.
Saves a lot of time and effort! I just wish that there was one-touch listening on mobile.
I like the idea of responding to my students in voice texts that allow me a room for personalizing the feed back and add tone dimension to reinforce the good points and soften tough ones.
Love using Mote but was super disappointed and frustrated to learn that I only get 20 free motes per month. As a language learner, 20 motes is not nearly enough. So now, I either have to pay up or wait a month to continue using Mote.
Excellent to use when you want to add an audio file to Google Docs that otherwise does not allow you to import an MP3 file from the computer. You can use the Chrome extension to add the audo file as a hyperlink or as a separate audio file on the document.

I teach Spanish and English as second languages. I was looking for an easy way to add my voice to Google Slides -- MOTE was the answer!! I have been burned by other extensions -- but MOTE was easy and intuitive and did exactly what I wanted. Being able to record and add the audio on the same page makes my life so much easier. When I share slides with my students, they can access my voice for listening practice in the language they are studying.
There are so many Apps for creating and learning that trying to decide which one/s you need can make your head spin. Well, I have finally found the one that I can NOT live without...My head IS STILL spinning...but it's because I am in LOVE with MOTE! I love this extension. I've been wanting something like this for ages. I work with disabled and often neurodiverse learners. Being able to record voice notes so that they can access the text as spoken language really supports greater learning. I haven't found out yet how to add it to a published Google Site but am hoping I can also do this. I've just added Voice notes to my Google forms and its a game changer!

Asynchronous communication is heralded with audio file embed into the number one email platform for businesses which is Gmail. The Mote program meets that need better than anything I have demoed. It's inexpensive for how much power it gives you, when you think about it. It works very quickly it's beautiful it's impressive and I am able to clean out my email inbox in fractions of the time and I particularly suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, the typing is painful which makes work painful until I found Mote. A list to say I am thrilled to give you a five star review because you deserve it
