Side Space isn't just another browser extension; it's a complete overhaul of how I interact with the web. The vertical tab manager is a revelation, transforming my chaotic tab bar into an organized, easily navigable sidebar. No more hunting for tabs – they're all there, clearly visible and accessible. But the real magic lies in its AI capabilities. The context-aware AI is like having a personal assistant living in my browser. It summarizes pages, helps me organize information, and even automates tasks with incredible precision. The "Spaces" feature is great for productivity, allowing me to instantly switch between work, personal, and research environments without a single tab out of place. And the fact that it syncs seamlessly across all my devices (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, etc.) means my perfectly organized browsing experience is always with me. Side Space has genuinely elevated my browsing experience from a chore to a streamlined, intelligent workflow. It's intuitive, powerful, and truly makes my browser work *for* me. If you're looking to reclaim your digital workspace and boost your productivity, look no further. This tool is a must-have.
“It’s Free — But It Changed How I Use My Browser!” Every morning started the same way. I’d open my browser and immediately feel overwhelmed. Dozens of tabs already open, and I knew I’d be adding more. I’d debate whether it was even worth organizing them—because organizing took time too. I installed Side Space for a simple reason: It was free. If it could make tab management just a little easier, that would be enough. After a few days, though, I realized something. The real value wasn’t about free vs. paid. It was about how it changed the way I think inside my browser. 1. AI Tab Grouping: “I Didn’t Have to Start by Organizing” Even on the free plan, AI-powered tab grouping is available. After opening several tabs and running the grouping feature, my tabs were organized by topic and domain context. * Research articles were grouped together * Docs and tools formed their own group It wasn’t perfect—but it didn’t need to be. Compared to a completely unstructured tab bar, this was a huge improvement. Before, my workflow started with: “Where did I put that page?” Now it starts with: “It should be in this group.” Even with just the free features, the time and mental energy spent searching for tabs dropped noticeably. 2. Spaces (Limited, but Enough): “Contexts Don’t Get Mixed Anymore” The free plan limits how many Spaces you can create. But in practice, two or three Spaces were more than enough to feel the difference. * A main work Space * A research Space * A personal browsing Space Switching Spaces felt like switching mental modes. The browser didn’t just change tabs—it changed context. One unexpected benefit was that I stopped hesitating about closing tabs. Instead of thinking, “Will I need this later?” I started thinking, “It’s safely in that Space.” It felt less like deleting things and more like putting them away properly. 3. Basic AI Chat: “Even with Many Tabs, I Didn’t Lose My Place” The free version includes basic AI Chat. You can ask questions based on your open tabs or get a high-level summary of the current Space. This isn’t about flashy automation. It’s about orientation. * What was I focusing on in this Space? * Which pages actually mattered? When I stepped away and came back later, the AI helped me re-enter the flow quickly instead of starting over. 4. The Real Productivity Gain: Not Speed, but Recovery Even using only the free plan, the changes were clear. * It took less time to get started * I spent less energy managing tabs * After interruptions, I could recover context much faster Side Space didn’t necessarily make me work faster. It made my workflow more resilient. And that mattered more. 5. Final Take (Free Plan Only) Side Space’s free version is not “an AI that does everything for you.” What it *does* offer is very clear: * AI grouping to quickly create structure * Limited but effective Spaces to separate contexts * Basic AI Chat to help you stay oriented Even without paying, it turns the browser from a place where information piles up into a place where thinking stays organized. If you regularly juggle a lot of tabs, the free version alone delivers a change you can genuinely feel.
Failed in everything I asked it to do. No matter how I tried to emphasize my wishes. By the end, instead of sorting my tabs into existing groups - like I asked - it created new groups, and when I deleted those I lost all my tabs... I should've chosen to "ungroup" but I wish the extension would give me a warning before deleting all my tabs.
The browser automation features have improved my workflow a lot. It helps me research and open useful resources while I’m writing my paper. Hope to see even more features soon.
Great product!!!!
lost my tabs!!!!
The Agent feature silently deletes tabs, which is really bad.
I really like the app, but am sticking with my non-AI "Vertical Sidebar Tab Group Manager" for a minute... please read on... While exploring the app, there is no User mandated GROUP organization, and whatever I clicked on destroyed ALL of my active GROUPS and jumbled up the TAB order (probably due to AI mandated organization priorities). I had to reinvent the GROUPs and re-organize the TABs. Also, it does not list Inactive GROUPS from Chrome "Tab Groups" list... ...but then again, not a single "Tab Group" organizer does (and I've tried about 20). This would be an important feature... solving the Tab-Group-sub-Groups problem... by listing ALL Groups in ACTIVE and INACTIVE Categories in the side bar, with the ability to toggle the Tabs ON or OFF. Uninstalled for now until these two features are added... 1) User mandated Group Ordering option. 2) Toggled Active and Inactive Group Categories. Also, I like the color scheme and graphic layout of "Vertical Sidebar Tab Group Manager" a little better... I have cataracts and it is MUCH easier for me to read., you might check it out for ideas. Note to Chrome Developers if they are reading this... With a side bar Tab Group extension like this, it would be a nice feature to be able to toggle OFF the Tabs Bar the same way you can toggle OFF the Bookmarks Bar. Note to Side Space Developers if they are reading this... Maybe it is possible to add a Tab Bar On/Off toggle feature under Settings in the app? Just thinkin'....
"Please sign in to use the AI grouping feature" And *where* am I allowed to sign in?
Just installed, UI looks great and clean but needs some work. btw im using brave browser. - Moving ungrouped tabs to new windows made all my youtube tabs play, had to stop them one by one and I havent found an option yet to move all or are single selected one back to side space. I have to use the Brave browser Tab manager to move them back. - when using right click on some tabs the pop-up menu is sometimes shown half hiding behind the main browser window on the right or a Brave bar on the left...seems like that can be improved. - Biggest concern is a missing speaker icon when one of the tabs is playing . I have to look up all the tabs that might be playing something. - Organizing Tabs doesnt work very well, moving a tab to a group with only one tab in it doesnt work. It creates a new tab - pls add right click move to new tab group or create tab group so i dont have to create a tab group from the buildin tab manager.
Bad: - can save tab group but cannot save windows
Nice looking bookmarking tool to replace my ARC ecosystem!
Good but please make it an option to turn off the tab intro-page opening about side space every time we start the browser
Does not preserve Chrome window names, where naming a window is a recent feature added to Chrome. It's because the Chrome Extension API doesn't expose reading/writing of window names, detailed in this Chromium bug: https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40174035
Good extension, please add beautiful animations like in Surf browser, at least when closing tabs and it will be awesome
cant sign in using google or github everytime i sign in it says logging in for 2-3 seconds and then get the same thing(tells me again to login)
I haven't found the settings of Tab Deck.
Looks really good! the UI is awesome! Thanks!
this is so cool
Nice extension. But...if I "pin" the tab for the extension, it will open a new home/index.html tab to the right of all pinned tabs with each browser launch. Those tabs then get saved. So, if you close and open Chrome say 5 times, you will have 5 Tab Deck tabs: 1 pinned, and 4 new Tab Deck tabs to the right of pinned tabs. This just seems really odd to me, as no other tab/group extension or extension of any sort has acted like this. Also, say I have said 5 Tab Deck tabs...the first one (the one I pinned) will take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to load, while the other 4 load almost instantly. This says to me that something about pinning this extension causes issues. I've written the devs via the website but no response in nearly a month, so time to leave a review.....
The extension most likely to crash on me. I usually keep it as a pinned tab and it's so very common (95%) of the time to see that tag is crashed and needs to be reloaded, and reloaded, and reloaded before it actually displays any actual content. When it works, it's great, but I rarely see it actually working. So, I almost never have a valid snapshot of my tabs from any given session.
Tried 5+ tab manager extensions; this one suits my need the best (many lists of read-it-later) and has the best design
DONT EVEN BOTHER WITH THIS ONE GUYS!! It doesn't have the ability to process and/or display large saved sessions. First of all, I have 32gb of ram, Intel Core i7-14700K, and an RTX 5070. PLENTY capable of handling resource intense graphics and memory hogging tabs but to begun with your UI is beautiful but its slow, REALLY slow. And choppy and just very irritating to use. And the dealbreaker for me was:, if you saved several large sessions, you wont be able to view them because every time you open the manager and try to click on the saved sessions tab, it just hangs and hangs and hangs and chrome asks if ill wait or exit page...at first i clicked wait and then clicked it another FIFTEEN MORE TIMES!!!. and even THEN, it wouldnt load. so im done. guys, work on your backend coding please.
Love the extension! One thing that could make a better user experience, is when tabs are asleep, at the moment the favicon is turned into a grey Power symbol, and this makes it slightly more challenging when searching for tabs because its difficult to differentiate between tabs when the favicons, which help a great deal when scanning for your tab, are no longer visible. I use brave browser, and one of the native features of brave browser is when a tab is put to sleep, instead of the favicon disappearing, there appears a dotted circle around the favicon to indicate that it's asleep. Please make a feature like this some way! Also, a feature that I find useful is one that I see in SideTab Pro extension, where you can select tabs with check boxes, and group or ungroup or open in new windows, or to put suspend all selected tabs, or to suspend all tabs within a group. I've been switching between using TabShelf and sideTab Pro, and this one, and they all have unique features and would. be awesome if one could do it all haha. Such as open tab in new group with the plus sign hover over the group header like in Sidetab, and also the filter by window option that is available in Tab Shelf is nice. and color coding different window groups.
更新过一次就不好用了,以前还能随意拖动标签分类,现在不行了,除了更新下UI 功能性反而变差了 也更卡了
可惜不能关闭选定的tab,我还是用免费的tab manager plus吧
Beautiful UI but scrollbar is not visible. Unconvenient.
Data loss has occurred for the second time. The first time all past tab sessions were erased during a one-click collection, and this time it happened a Chrome update. Be very careful with this extension if you're not in the habit of using other third-party backup tools. The developer appears more intent on monetizing it, rather than focusing on the reliability of its core features.
Great extension! Finding out how to put in on the left was way too hard! https://www.sidespace.app/blog/how-to-change-the-location-of-side-panel-in-chrome
I enabled "close tabs when saving" option to make it behave more like the original OneTab. It "saves" all windows instead of the current one. On top of that only the second window got actually saved so I lost most of the tabs. Additionally it's missing the "Send tabs on the right/left" feature.
Doesn't show tab groups
promising extension with some good features and a pretty ui but ... lacks de-duplication ui is a little buggy (elements overlap) cloud sync costs $2.50/month beyond first 4 sessions
Please add the option to close a tab / group with the middle mouse button / wheel button pressed down
Being involved in multiple projects, this extension keeps me organized and significantly improves my daily workflow. It’s an indispensable tool for staying productive and focused.
The developer is responsive and always willing to help. The extension itself is highly useful and packed with features that make managing tabs and browsing so much easier.
This add-on is incredibly useful and has become an essential part of my browsing experience. The monthly fee is not only affordable but also significantly lower compared to similar tools in this category.
I usually end up in chaos with too many web pages open and often lose something important. This app has saved me hours of stress. I can save entire sessions for later or quickly load my favorite site collections—it’s simply good.
I absolutely need this app! It lets me save sets of tabs to the cloud, so I can easily access them on another PC.
This tool helps me stay on top of the 100+ tabs I typically have open. It’s been working perfectly for me.
I’m a serious tab collector, and this extension has become absolutely essential for me.
I didn’t realize I had hundreds of tabs open until I tried this tool! Managing tabs in a window with a dozen of tabs open is such a hassle, titles are hard to read, and reloading tabs takes ages, making it difficult to decide what to keep or close. This extension makes it so easy to see all the tab names at once and offers great actions to organize them. Plus, the UI is amazing!
I like this extension. My only suggestion is about the greyed-out inactive tabs. While I see why it’s done, it makes it harder to find tabs when there are many open, as the colors help a lot. It would be amazing to have an option to disable this.
An excellent free option compared to paid extensions like Workona, as long as you don’t need cloud sync.
Simple and user-friendly. Ideal for keeping all your tabs from different windows organized in one place.
By far my favorite extension! I’ve added it to all of my Chrome profiles. I really hope it can add features to manage different profiles from one place, and continues to be supported for years to come.
This tool has been working so well for me. Most of its features are free and no ad. Keep it going!
Incredibly helpful for anyone looking to master multitasking!
It eliminates the hassle of adjusting my browser width and scrolling endlessly just to view my tab groups. The feature to save tabs to the cloud for access across devices makes it more convenient.
Good tab manager, the ability to select multiple tabs for sending to is good, just one request, add more actions like closing or putting to sleep will be more helpful. Plus, it seamlessly supports managing tabs across different windows—super convenient!
If you're like me and can't resist opening too many tabs, this extension is a must-have. It keeps everything organized, and I can revisit saved tabs whenever I need. The customizable themes are a nice touch tool!
