Though practically effective it does not actually prevent the activation of AI. A direct message to Google: we don't want an AI feature. It is killing us environmentally, physically, and mentally, not to mention its diluted quality. Let Google serve as a database rather than a catalyst for doomsday; thanks!

This is a brilliant plug-in. The fact that there isn't an option to turn off the use of AI is really an awful choice on Google's part. Not only is it not helpful, but it's also awful for the environment. This doesn't stop the activation of the AI but hopefully sends a message to Google that we don't want this.

WARNING: This does NOTHING to prevent the energy and water consumption from the AI summaries being generated, it only is coded to hide them from view. This extension is NOT the one you are looking for if you actually want to *prevent* the AI from running. You'll have to add -noai to your search query manually to do this. Uninstalling now that I wrote a review after reading the source code on GitHub.

Doesn't actually stop the AI call/return, just collapses the panel so you can't see it. Also there's too much header space at the top so there's clearly a removed bit on your screen.

I use Duck Duck Go for most of my searches so I don't need this extension on every search. It did work for the few times I used it.

Does its job sometimes for me. The AI overview gets moved below one of the search results occasionally.

This USED to work flawlessly! So, what happened Google?? Why is it no longer working? Did you lose too much ad revenue by allowing us to disable the constant barrage of Ai bs that streams from Google searches? Fix the extension so it works again!!

It sometimes shows an ai overview, but at least you don't get an overview every time you search for something, like a question for example, great extension, you have to try it!

It's gotten so annoying always having a paragraph of alphabet soup shoved in my face whenever I search for something. I never know if I'm going to be completely misunderstood, or be told "No" when I'm not even asking a question, I'm looking for more information about something. For example, Gemini gaslit me and said I was misremembering a musical album instead of telling me that it doesn't have access to sites like discogs.org. Once I located the album myself and asked about it, Gemini mentioned it didn't have access to sites like that. Is it supposed to be helpful, or some form of consumer control?

works as it states - it does get rid of ai overview (THANK GOD, FINALLY). however, my only issue is that it gets rid of the small description-box thingy that google used to give when you search something specific. for example, before ai overview, if you looked up "who is pams love interest in the office" it would show a small box of information giving the context of that. however, now it only suggests a link to pam beesly for fandom.com. despite this, i recommend this extension because it does completely eliminate the annoying ai overview in my experience. i'm glad this extension exists, i can do without the handy quick explanation that google used to give in exchnage for never having to deal with ai overview and feeling bad about the water wasted unnecessarily.

Works as intended, just make sure you give it permission to search results. On OperaGX it didn't work until I did that. 👍

It stopped working after one day of using it.

Was awesome when it worked, but doesn't seem to anymore. I have tried everything, and it just isn't working anymore.

Finally. I hate the google AI stuff and wish they would stop trying to shove it down our throats. Any new feature like this that is so pervasive and refuses to allow customers to opt out is immediately an object of suspicion in my view. All of these tech executives have been getting greedier and more blood-sucking ever since the "AI revolution" began and they seem to lay awake at night trying to figure out how to make the most money to make more people miserable and convince them that they are actually happier when they are not. I'm tired of having to add "-ai" to literally every search -- which brings up actual good sources rather than a slop answer born from an amalgamation of anything from reddit posts to whatever obscure source with actual good sources buried in there somewhere. This makes it so much easier to just search whatever you wanted to search and not have to jump through extra hoops for the basics.
