Doesn't do anything on Edge. Several tabs are opened (some youtube, some not), only one youtube video is playing. If I switch to one of the random tabs and then clicking on the extension icon nothing happens. Sad...... On OperaGX it works like a charm but I never use that browser.

A life-saver. Used it for zillions of tabs over the years to find that pesky tab that suddenly starts chiming in (invaluable when you restart your browser.) And even works on the Orion Browser, which is why I'm finally writing a long-overdue review.

It does what it says on the box, although it would be much better if it could take you go BACK as well. I'm working on a document with a bazillion open tabs, I want to pause the music, it takes me to that tab... now I have to find the one I was at. I wish I could just click it again to return to where I came from.

Quite simple and effective! I even checked, launched a video in a group of tabs and collapsed the group by clicking on the plugin button, it immediately opened the group and pointed to the target tab. and when several are playing, it goes through each one

This is excellent. Thanks so much to the author. Sometimes relaunching Chrome or resuming a computer from sleep can lead to a tab playing out of the blue. If Google stops it being supported, it will be shame on them for not providing this functionality natively.

✅ Works. In case you have multiple open tabs playing audio at the same time then clicking on the icon will just shuffle between the playing ones. This works great for browsers such as Edge, that, unlike Brave and Firefox, do not have the dropdown arrow for showing you all tabs you can search through NOR the dedicated audio/sound icon which shows you the tabs playing audio.

SUGGESTION! I guess it is a 5 star. But if no tab is playing it should show the last tab that was playing noise. That would be perfect!!! And if you click again within 2 seconds it will goto the previous noise playing tab and so on. What's the short cut key?

After a few attempts to react quick enough (helpful to "pin" this extension in chrome so the button is more easily clickable in a hurry) this WONDERFUL extension helped me find the most elusive and annoying, intermittent "ding" sound amongst literally hundreds of chrome tabs. Because I have so many tabs all organized and tucked away in folders, I can't see the speaker icon that visually helps you find the noisy chrome tab. With this extension, I found out that the sound was coming from a YouTube video (Iceland volcano eruption livestream that had stopped playing days ago, but was still making noise at random intervals). I had that livestream video in fullscreen mode for viewing on an external monitor while I worked. I couldn't find it because on macOS, when you turn off the external monitor (a TV on the wall in my case), that fullscreen window becomes a separate "Desktop" that you have to 3-finger swipe over to on the trackpad, so you can't find it by command+tab or command+~ to switch open programs or open windows in a program. ANNOYING. But this extension is great and helped me solve my issue. I've since disabled the extension for the simple fact that the developer chose not to list the permissions required and also dodged that question / maybe even deleted the review where someone else was asking about the permissions required. Can never be too careful these days. Annoying sound gone, sketchy extension disabled. All is well until the next thing breaks.

This is a sanity saver! I am so glad I found it. Thank you. I have hundreds of tabs open at any given time, and I lose my mind after a reboot. Previous attempts have been less that idea. MUTE TAB HAS SAVED SOME SANITY and LOTS OF TIME!

This is such a simple and effective fix for the pervasive problem of trying to figure out which tab is playing audio. Now when I hear unexpected audio, I'll stop it in literally about 5 seconds. If there are multiple tabs playing audio, just repeat the process and it will find each of them in turn. Fantastic.

I took this off because I don't like adding extensions, but I had to add it back. I missed it too much. What a shame I can't build it from source. Then I'd feel more comfortable about running it.

Extension developer you are a genius. Absolutely mind blowing that Google can't have this built into Chrome; seems their MO lately is ignoring practicality only to add useless functionality. I have my Chrome window buttons ungrouped on the taskbar and frequently have 80 or more windows open so trying to figure out which one is playing music is a painstaking task. I love how you can keep clicking the extension icon to cycle through windows playing sound as well. Thanks so much! Go die in a fire Google.

I was going nuts looking for a noisy tab. This extension fixed that. 5/5 stars google should get a clue, integrate this functionality, and hire the dev.
