It appears that three of the five positive reviews published come from Delinea employees, suggesting deliberate manipulation of ratings to artificially improve the app's reputation. This is an opaque and ethically questionable practice. Positive points (very limited): A more modern and user-friendly interface than the previous version (Web Password Filler), which is its only real advantage. Several major issues that render the extension unusable in its current state: Random and uncontrolled filling of fields not related to authentication, with concrete risks: - Data corruption in critical forms. - Unintentional exfiltration of credentials if sensitive data is injected into visible areas or logs. - Blocking of pages rendered unusable by untimely entries. No configuration of behaviour (auto-fill, pop-ups, etc.) possible, unlike the previous version. This is an unacceptable loss of control for a professional tool and a clear functional regression. Despite its improved appearance, this extension is unreliable and has critical flaws in terms of security, stability and usability. It should be avoided at all costs in production until its behaviour and configuration options have been completely redesigned.
Amazing app
The app is fine. Not amazing, but it's fine. What I don't appreciate is that the only two 5-star reviews are from sales engineers at Delinea, posted on the same day. Reviewing your own software to manipulate ratings is scummy and misleading.
I like the new look, but this extension has too many issues to switch from the Delinea Web Password Filler. I tested one of my logins that uses an OTP code and I can't even log in. The extension does not correctly paste in the OTP code and the button/timer embedded into the entry for the first number of the OTP code blocks my ability to manually paste in the correct OTP code. What's more, I appear to have no way to disable the OTP autofill when launching the secret. Also, it appears that users cannot set their own preferences for autofilling, prompting to save credentials, and so on. It's all only centrally controlled by the administrator. You should give the administrators the ability for forcefully control these features if they want; otherwise it should be up to each user. The Web Password Filler allowed users to set these settings, so this is definitely a step backward. I know this extension is relatively new and I hope the team makes the necessary adjustments to make it viable in the near future.
Slow as hell and fails to autofill the password (only username autofilled fine)
Great tool for my web passwords. Makes sharing, creating, and organizing my passwords a breeze! Combine this with the Delinea Platform and this is a game changer!
Such a huge improvement over the Web Password Filler! Much more polished looking, and much faster! My biggest complaint about the WPF was the speed to autofill, but this appears much faster. OTP Support, UI matches the platform UI and looks much more modern. It's WPF on steroids basically
Consistently shows password entries to which I do not have access. Consistently shows passwords which do not match the current URL in any way. The only good thing I can say about it so far is that it does actually fill in passwords on pages which I launch from the plugin.
Works once every blue moon and the barometric pressure on Pluto needs to be just right! Don't try to find a pattern, there is none. (We are over 250 in IT where I work and we all tried!) And when it does kinda work, it makes me feel like the UI has been designed by 2 blind men before the internet was a thing! I mean not very intuitive sorry. Basically useless unfortunately :((( I hate to say that because Secret Server in general is very good IMHO. Please get on it Delinea, Altho I am purely on the Systems & Networking side of IT, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a big project requiring a lot of men power to relieve us users, our frustration. ✌️
Previously i use v3.9 no issue. After update it to latest version 3.11, i get this messsages "Web Password Filler is unable to validate the server certificate. Please contact your site administrator." , my secret server is using self signed certificate
Search does not work. Recent shows a couple of secrets that I never viewed. Totally useless in my case.
Would be great if this Plugin could also fill in a TOTP (Time based one time Password) that is saved to a given account. For that usecase I always must login to the main Delinea rendering this plugin for my usecases pretty much useless.
I think the extension works great! But there is some apprehension within organizations from a security vulnerability perspective. Could you point me to some documentation that details on what safety measures Delinea has taken in these regards? I reviewed this doc here, is there any other document out there? https://docs.delinea.com/online-help/web-password-filler/start.htm
Works great.
It doesn't work. it's not showing all my passwords. only show recents. also I cannot add any passwords saying I don't have templates, which I do.
this thing is a waste of time, dont know how it gets all the users names wrong.
Easy to use, 100%
Tested with win11. This definitely fails to remove the password from the clipboard. This feature is broken and needs to be reworked. I suspect that current security features prevent this from being possible. Also, with clipboard history, it stands to reason that the clipboard has fundamentally changed, so this could also be part of the problem. Either way, this is insufficient and ineffective.
This extension is forced by our organization and what a waste of productivity. You have to click at least 6 times to just save a password and saving fails if the password does not meet security guidelines. It is the password on the site, I am just trying to save it so I can use it the next time, don't fail the save. Also saved passwords are not listed when I try to login, which means I have to now open a new browser window to search for my passwords on their website, which is also very tedious. The mouse is constantly busy clicking and clicking to do the basic stuff. My fingers hurt now, this is painful for your wrist and your mental health.
From 2023-Apr-12 to 2023-Aug-10, this plugin negatively impacted several users in our organization with a flood of processes of its ThycoticMessagingHost.exe severe enough to cause system performance issues. This seems to have ceased. Now it's just a two-star ding for the doubly-ableist "Thycotic" back-end name. Way to make fun of people with mental health problems and physical developmental differences at the same time, I guess? That's so British that it's on the campus of the London School of Economics. What a world.
Really easy to use. Doesn't get in my way when I need to go to my web logins to do my work
Love this tool!
Completely broken if you use SSO. We cant login to our secretserver instance via WPF becasue we don't have direct username/password. WPF won't do autofill without logging in directly so I guess that whole feature is broken
I use this for all my work related PW's and it's great!
Since the last release of Web Password Filler in Chrome, I can no longer use secrets with multiple urls (separated by commas). Under Edge, the extension is still 3.4.2 and it works.
Plugs in and works seamlessly for me. When combined with the TOTP makes a perfect way to share a SaaS admin account with others but making sure they have to be MFA's by secret server first
Because simply allowing copy and paste isn't enough, apparently. Here's another unnecessary addon to pile on top of the others.
Constantly closes and reopens trying to get me to signin, super laggy and unresponsive sometimes. Simply just not worth it.
Great when it works. But it intermittently stops filling in the passwords and needs to be removed from browser plugins and re-adding again to get it working.
May i know why is it always it will auto filled in the login id but will then stuck on password section there, please fix this problems as it really annoyed when trying to access to the website. Thanks & Regards(I'm using thycotic to access to the alibaba cloud website)
Recently the extension was updated with Delinea branding (after their after their acquisition of Thycotic) and since then, the web filler no longer actually fills the password. It recognizes that you have passwords for website, even helpfully lists the names of the ones that match so you can click on them to fill your password, but then after selecting the one I need, it just doesn't fill the password. It acts like it already did, but it never does. Please fix this. Not doing the one thing it was designed to do really renders this extension worthless.
Works great!
Glad to see I'm not the only one with problems. It's so clunky. Bitwarden and lastpass have way better interfaces. The quick launcher search doesn't return results. Despite web passwords having URLs saved in them, they are not offered as suggested credentials when visiting that URL. I have to go to "open vault" and find credentials in there manually. Sorry guys, there are better options out there for password management. Please see if you can raise the bar and bring secret server up to the standard of the competition.
Currently with plugin 3.0 when launching the secret, it gives a password error. With version 2.0.6 this did not happen
Works fine, even in Microsoft Edge
Previously we used the legacy secret server password filler which was randomly decommissioned and removed from the chrome store one day. Upon upgrading to this extension we realized you no longer click the button to fill a password. This is a huge problem as a lot of our applications have fields recognized as fill-able and it just instantly fills all of them with usernames and passwords.
We moved to Secret Server last year and really did not like the Web password filler at all. This version is much better (ver. 2.0.1). App now has a lot of improvements to user/pass fields that weren't recognized before. One problem I have is when I accidentally choose an incorrect password and it fills the field incorrectly. If I just refresh the page, The extension fills in the the incorrect username/password because it remembers the last user selected option for this page. There is no way to re-prompt the list of possible sites from the extension unless you close the tab/window and then browse to the site again. This would be a nice improvement.
Does what it describes. It is also a very handy security feature that it deletes the password when the tab is closed!
Doesn't work
This is awesome!
When it works it is fine. I have one user that the extension gets in a login loop. Both FF and Chrome. I was able to replicate that on a fresh install using a different account. Suddenly one of them started working. It also doesn't seem to obey the configured web service timeout. The install on my laptop has been logged in for 24 hours, despite an 8 hour configuration.
Working great for me. Thanks for the improvements!
Improvements over the last version really helped. Always innovating, this is great.
This has made my life so much easier. Great improvements guys.
We were eagerly anticipating the latest release that dropped on 1/27/20 to fix the login issue. Unfortunately it did not fix the login issue. Once logged in the plugin logs out after 20 mins or so and you have to re-login and re-generate a token. It is cumbersome and irritating, and is now preventing us from releasing to all users. At the very minimum the token should last 8 hours so users only have to login once a day. Realistically from a user perspective it should last 30 days.
Great improvements compared to the previous version!
The version is a great improvement over the older version...
This version sucks. The older password filler actually worked.
Sorry guys, It is slow, have the time I have to search the app and manually copy/paste the pwd to login.
It's not working. Every time I try to copy to clipboard feature, chrome tells me that I need to install this extension.
