Incredibly helpful extension! I use it multiple times a day... an hour even. It does exactly what it says. The Custom sort mode needs some time to figure out, but dev Peter provides rather helpful demo video on the GitHub extension page. Quite honestly this is THE BEST sorting extension out of all I've tried from the store. And wait there's more: you can optionally deduplicate tabs too! Having said that, it would be nice to add more tuning: choose how to sort in Custom mode (presently hardcoded sort by URL), advanced deduplication rules etc. At any case - this is a great extension, thank you Peter!

Neat tool! The `Sort by URL` options work as expected. Only taking off a star because of a buggy custom option. Context: The default tab ordering is 'Right to Left'. To reverse this ordering, you need to switch from `Sort by URL` to `Custom` and then switch the dropdown option to to `Left to Right`. For my workflow and the types of sites I tend to visit, the `Left to Right` would be strongly preferred. Will update rating once fixed. May also review the code and submit a PR if time allows it. In the meantime, all I can say at first glance is that the custom sorting seems to perform a local sort instead of the default global (per window) sort you get in `Sort by URL`. Seems like this is leading to inconsistencies whenever I try to sort with custom sort (even when I leave all the other sorting options unchanged).

Compared to [simple tab sorter], this new one is still simple but wonderful ! Sorting by root domain is a wise choice. 🤓 A hotkey will be a great improvement.
Did the job and respected tab groupings (in Edge).
Due to the severe accusations of another review, I have taken the time to skim over the source code inside the GitHub repository linked in the extension overview, and did not find any concerning code as of commit c3d6fb4. Certainly nothing that would even suggest data transmission/theft. The permissions for this extension as defined in the manifest seem benign and minimalist. Presuming that the files in the repository match what was uploaded to the webstore (because I am not THAT paranoid yet), I believe its safe to assume that the other reviewer either lied or spoke out of ignorance, unless and until convincing proof is provided. The reason why I'm "only" granting 4 out of 5 stars, is because I'm not convinced one extra checkbox (deduplicate tabs) justifies a separate extension vs Simple Tab Sorter (by the same author), at this time. Sincerely, a student of computer science.
as of this writing, works fine.. i usually open lots of tab and sorted my task as its url's parameter id, etc.. thank you.

Not sure what the one start review is about. Maybe it isn't a 5, but it is far closer to that than 1. It is my main tab sort extension on chromium-based browsers at the moment. I felt like I should rectify the overall rating.
Second best extension after Adblocker
The extension was updated and after I clicked is sorted the tabs of EVERY CHROME WINDOW I HAD opened messing up the order I was used to, why change something like that without a big warning ffs.
No sure if it is due to my chrome is outdated, (I am in Win 7), the extension doesn't work after upgrade, it doesn't sort correctly.
Updated review: Great extension that I've used for years. There was a little hiccup recently with Chrome (see my original review) that had me worried about privacy, but Peter has written in detail about that issue in his response and so I'm happy to correct my review. Original review: This was a great extension until it added the ability to look at your browsing history. Chrome disabled the extension automatically as a result. Remove that and I'll be happy to give 5 stars.
The extension is a gem! Compatible with marvellous suspender which means it not only sorts all the tabs that were put to sleep but also moves the active tab to the end.
Straightforward, functional, and free of unnecessary bloat or shady requests for random permissions. Love it.
Wow. I love it. I have nearly 100 clients that I am sharing google docs with and entering spreadsheet data. Being able to alphabetize my open tabs with just the touch of a button saves me SO much time sorting through my clients names. Thank you Peter White. Fantastic.

Great extension!! It works perfectly, does not disturb pinned tabs, The 'custom' option is somewhat confusing to use, but the url and title sort is more than enough for most users.

Simple and it just works! I just migrated from other sorter plugins to this one. Love the simple feature that answers 95% of my needs. - Sort by URL best fits me since duplicate google docs are grouped next to each other +1 - Don't sort pinned tabs - No tracking of user data Awesome work!
