Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

This vibrant, disc-shaped fish is a Discus fish (Symphysodon spp.). As a biologist, I'm always fascinated by the wide variety of colors and patterns that exist within this species. This individual has a beautiful combination of a pale base with a reddish-orange mottled pattern that covers its body. The light blue lines and a prominent orange eye add to its striking appearance.
