Side Space isn't just another browser extension; it's a complete overhaul of how I interact with the web. The vertical tab manager is a revelation, transforming my chaotic tab bar into an organized, easily navigable sidebar. No more hunting for tabs – they're all there, clearly visible and accessible. But the real magic lies in its AI capabilities. The context-aware AI is like having a personal assistant living in my browser. It summarizes pages, helps me organize information, and even automates tasks with incredible precision. The "Spaces" feature is great for productivity, allowing me to instantly switch between work, personal, and research environments without a single tab out of place. And the fact that it syncs seamlessly across all my devices (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, etc.) means my perfectly organized browsing experience is always with me. Side Space has genuinely elevated my browsing experience from a chore to a streamlined, intelligent workflow. It's intuitive, powerful, and truly makes my browser work *for* me. If you're looking to reclaim your digital workspace and boost your productivity, look no further. This tool is a must-have.
“It’s Free — But It Changed How I Use My Browser!” Every morning started the same way. I’d open my browser and immediately feel overwhelmed. Dozens of tabs already open, and I knew I’d be adding more. I’d debate whether it was even worth organizing them—because organizing took time too. I installed Side Space for a simple reason: It was free. If it could make tab management just a little easier, that would be enough. After a few days, though, I realized something. The real value wasn’t about free vs. paid. It was about how it changed the way I think inside my browser. 1. AI Tab Grouping: “I Didn’t Have to Start by Organizing” Even on the free plan, AI-powered tab grouping is available. After opening several tabs and running the grouping feature, my tabs were organized by topic and domain context. * Research articles were grouped together * Docs and tools formed their own group It wasn’t perfect—but it didn’t need to be. Compared to a completely unstructured tab bar, this was a huge improvement. Before, my workflow started with: “Where did I put that page?” Now it starts with: “It should be in this group.” Even with just the free features, the time and mental energy spent searching for tabs dropped noticeably. 2. Spaces (Limited, but Enough): “Contexts Don’t Get Mixed Anymore” The free plan limits how many Spaces you can create. But in practice, two or three Spaces were more than enough to feel the difference. * A main work Space * A research Space * A personal browsing Space Switching Spaces felt like switching mental modes. The browser didn’t just change tabs—it changed context. One unexpected benefit was that I stopped hesitating about closing tabs. Instead of thinking, “Will I need this later?” I started thinking, “It’s safely in that Space.” It felt less like deleting things and more like putting them away properly. 3. Basic AI Chat: “Even with Many Tabs, I Didn’t Lose My Place” The free version includes basic AI Chat. You can ask questions based on your open tabs or get a high-level summary of the current Space. This isn’t about flashy automation. It’s about orientation. * What was I focusing on in this Space? * Which pages actually mattered? When I stepped away and came back later, the AI helped me re-enter the flow quickly instead of starting over. 4. The Real Productivity Gain: Not Speed, but Recovery Even using only the free plan, the changes were clear. * It took less time to get started * I spent less energy managing tabs * After interruptions, I could recover context much faster Side Space didn’t necessarily make me work faster. It made my workflow more resilient. And that mattered more. 5. Final Take (Free Plan Only) Side Space’s free version is not “an AI that does everything for you.” What it *does* offer is very clear: * AI grouping to quickly create structure * Limited but effective Spaces to separate contexts * Basic AI Chat to help you stay oriented Even without paying, it turns the browser from a place where information piles up into a place where thinking stays organized. If you regularly juggle a lot of tabs, the free version alone delivers a change you can genuinely feel.
Failed in everything I asked it to do. No matter how I tried to emphasize my wishes. By the end, instead of sorting my tabs into existing groups - like I asked - it created new groups, and when I deleted those I lost all my tabs... I should've chosen to "ungroup" but I wish the extension would give me a warning before deleting all my tabs.
The browser automation features have improved my workflow a lot. It helps me research and open useful resources while I’m writing my paper. Hope to see even more features soon.
Great product!!!!
lost my tabs!!!!
The Agent feature silently deletes tabs, which is really bad.
I really like the app, but am sticking with my non-AI "Vertical Sidebar Tab Group Manager" for a minute... please read on... While exploring the app, there is no User mandated GROUP organization, and whatever I clicked on destroyed ALL of my active GROUPS and jumbled up the TAB order (probably due to AI mandated organization priorities). I had to reinvent the GROUPs and re-organize the TABs. Also, it does not list Inactive GROUPS from Chrome "Tab Groups" list... ...but then again, not a single "Tab Group" organizer does (and I've tried about 20). This would be an important feature... solving the Tab-Group-sub-Groups problem... by listing ALL Groups in ACTIVE and INACTIVE Categories in the side bar, with the ability to toggle the Tabs ON or OFF. Uninstalled for now until these two features are added... 1) User mandated Group Ordering option. 2) Toggled Active and Inactive Group Categories. Also, I like the color scheme and graphic layout of "Vertical Sidebar Tab Group Manager" a little better... I have cataracts and it is MUCH easier for me to read., you might check it out for ideas. Note to Chrome Developers if they are reading this... With a side bar Tab Group extension like this, it would be a nice feature to be able to toggle OFF the Tabs Bar the same way you can toggle OFF the Bookmarks Bar. Note to Side Space Developers if they are reading this... Maybe it is possible to add a Tab Bar On/Off toggle feature under Settings in the app? Just thinkin'....
"Please sign in to use the AI grouping feature" And *where* am I allowed to sign in?
Just installed, UI looks great and clean but needs some work. btw im using brave browser. - Moving ungrouped tabs to new windows made all my youtube tabs play, had to stop them one by one and I havent found an option yet to move all or are single selected one back to side space. I have to use the Brave browser Tab manager to move them back. - when using right click on some tabs the pop-up menu is sometimes shown half hiding behind the main browser window on the right or a Brave bar on the left...seems like that can be improved. - Biggest concern is a missing speaker icon when one of the tabs is playing . I have to look up all the tabs that might be playing something. - Organizing Tabs doesnt work very well, moving a tab to a group with only one tab in it doesnt work. It creates a new tab - pls add right click move to new tab group or create tab group so i dont have to create a tab group from the buildin tab manager.
Bad: - can save tab group but cannot save windows
Nice looking bookmarking tool to replace my ARC ecosystem!
